5 weeks

CI36

When Ruby was two weeks old we went to CI36, a festival celebrating contact improvisation. We were both currators for the festival so really needed to be there but OH MY it was intense with a two week old baby. When we made the plans we thought and hoped she be closer to 4 weeks but since she was late she was only 2. The festival was incredible and incredibly hot...we really don't remember much more than taking care of the girl and trying to figure out how to be parents. Chris did have an amazing trio with Ray Chung and Mike Vargas. And we were able to see lots of our friends from all over the world. Ruby met many of her aunts and uncles.

Home again

We are back home after a month of summer touring. The grass is long and the garden is full of weeds but the pile is still stanging (see previous entry).

We taught in Berne, Switzerland, Findhorn in Northern Scotland and Bearnstow in Maine. We also spent a few days in Paris which was our holiday and more fabulous than we had imagined. We wandered the streets and ate great food...what more could you want?

Pile

My mom and I have been creating a pile in the yard...it is made of 10 foot long thorny branches, logs, cedar branches, shrubbery, hedge clippings and a very dead christmas tree. In my mind it looks like Andy Goldsworthy...

Western Mass

Western Mass

We are in Western Massachusetts where it is about 1o degrees colder and about 100 degrees more beautiful than where we have been. We are staying in our friend Shakti's house which is so lovely and sweet. Small is beautiful when it comes to houses and vast is beautiful when it comes to gardens and forests.

Tomorrow we will go to Earthdance, a board meeting, perhaps a sauna and definately some dancing.

It is Friday

Okay, this is my first blog ever...I feel shy.

We just returned from teaching in DC for the members of the Dance Exchange. Liz Lerman and company have a beautiful new space in Takoma Park. The dancers were beautiful and Chris and I had a great time.
