St. Julien walks

A few photos from Chris and Ruby's early morning walks here in St. Julien Moulin Moullette.

Today the sun is out after a few cloudy days. It is still cold in the evenings and mornings but by mid day beautiful and warm. St. Julien is a magical village. Small but just big enough. There is a baker, a butcher and two cafe. There is a small store and a market on Tuesday. This weekend there were many, many people out playing bacci ball (not sure how to spell that). There are several places to play: a cemetery, a park, a parking lot and we even came across some young people playing in a court tucked behind an old building a little outside of the village center. Everyone is very serious about it but to my untrained eye it looks like a lot of standing around and pointing. It also seemed funny that the players were dressed in track suits and athletic clothes.

First Birthday

Ruby had a great first birthday with gifts from Kim K. (the book she is reading with dad in the photo), Aunt Frankie and Cousin Kim (the cute green floral top she is wearing in the picture), Grandmother (new shoes!), Lucy (the handmade redheaded doll), Iona (a doggie T shirt). She loved everything especially the bags and wrapping paper.

What's new...

The girl is doing well. She just turn 11 months. She had her first official walking last week (5 steps in a row). She is cruising around the furniture, our legs, boxes and piles of anything she encounters. She is "talking" all the time. Lots of ba ba and ma ma and da da....and her favorite 'ish' which is always in a whisper when she is busy working on something. She likes organizing and sorting especially laundry and shoes.
She is stepping up her potty training and goes in her little green potty more than in her diaper on most days. she even has some very cute (and tiny) training panties.
She is sleeping pretty well. I don't have to feed her at night anymore thankfully (but also a little sad--sweeeeet times).
Hope to see/talk/hear from you all soon.

Photos from Nancy

Our friend Nancy took these great photos in February. Iona and James were visiting for the weekend and we all went to see Lucy rehearse for her circus performance. THANKS Nancy! The rest of the photos are on our Flickr site (the link is at the right of the blog.)

1:40 a.m.

It is 1:40 a.m. Ruby can't sleep and Lucy has a stomach virus...seems like the perfect time to do some blogging. Other than her night waking and getting up at 5am Ruby is fantastic. She went to Chris' class today and enjoyed the live jazz band and watching the dancing. She likes the dance studio a lot. She is also in love bookshelves and VHS tapes. She is not sure about carrots. Her hair is "long," occasionally making a little curl in the back.

Seven Stars Circus

Lucy performed in the Seven Stars Circus last weekend. She did a VERY exciting balancing act. She runs onto a ball and balances while twirling two hula hoops on her arms, neck and then waist. It was FANTASTIC.
